1946年生まれ。ミレイユ・マチュー(Mireille Mathieu)は日本でも人気の女性シャンソン歌手で、 これまで世界中で売り上げたアルバムは約2億枚。1946年7月22日にアヴィニョンの貧しい家庭の長女として生まれ、19歳の時パリに上り、テレビののど自慢番組で「愛の讃歌」を歌って優勝。 エディット・ピアフの再来と呼ばれ、翌年の1966年にポール・モーリア作曲の「愛の信条」でデビュー。おかっぱ頭の髪型がトレードマークで、1970年代には3度来日公演も行う。　今回発売される2枚組アルバム『シネマ』は、映画音楽のテーマ曲全40曲を収録したコンペレーション・アルバム。「虹の彼方に」（オズの魔法使い）「恋の面影」（007カジノ・ロワイヤル）等のこれまで彼女が発表してきた有名曲に加え、「Un homme et une femme」（男と女）のフランシス・レイとのデュエット等、未発表曲及び初CD化音源も多数収録。
